UPS Contract Negotiations Update
|
|
With the contract set to expire on July 31st your Union leadership has spent the majority of 2018 at the bargaining table with UPS. Non-economic agreements to modify the contract have been reached on numerous language issues in all three of the contracts covering Local 162 members.
Your Union is pressing forward for stronger language on supervisors working, technology and other major issues impacting our members. There is the National, Western and Joint Council 37. Negotiations on wages, health care and pensions have not begun as we attempt to resolve as many language issues prior to the economics – standard practice in Union negotiations.
In Oregon negotiations for Joint Council 37, your Union negotiating committee is led by Local 162 President Mark Davison. He reports we have tentative agreements that improve your contract language on in-state transfers, feeder promotions, bidding rights, layoff protections and other locally negotiated working conditions. Local 162 also started the process of exchanging proposals with the Company over our Local 162 feeder bid and dispatch rules.
Members can get automatic updates on the contract negotiations by registering at www.upsrising.org. A UPS Rising phone app is also available and is a great way to have the contracts on your phone. Local 162 is also posting its own periodic updates at www.teamsters162.com.
