Swire Coca Cola Negotiations Update
Updated On: Mar 27, 2020

Your Union bargaining team, led by Teamsters Local 162 President Mark Davison and Business Agent Mike Mayo, met with Swire Coca Cola and engaged in three days of contract negotiations in Portland on March 3, 4 and 5.  Your Union representatives were joined at the negotiating table with your rank and file driver, warehouse and merchandising shop stewards. The current contract is due to expire on March 30, 2020.  These early negotiations focused on non-economic language issues.  Safety and health in the workplace was a major topic in these negotiations.  Your Union has put forth a proposal that promotes a culture of worker safety with rank and file Union involvement in the safety and health process. We also made proposals and reached agreements on your Union protections, job security, the grievance procedure and discipline.  There was also lengthy back and forth discussions, proposals and counter proposals concerning mileage pay for merchandisers.  Proposals were also presented on key entitlements such as vacations, holidays and sick leave. Negotiations are scheduled to resume on March 23 and 24.  Both sides will exchange full economic proposals on wages, health care and pension. We appreciate your patience and support as we work hard to achieve a contract worthy of our recommendation and your vote.
