On March 22nd new leadership will take the helm of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in Washington D.C.  More than 70% of the Teamster membership nationwide, including in our own Joint Council 37, elected the entire Teamsters United Slate.  The twenty-four candidate slate headed by General President elect Sean O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer elect Fred Zuckerman are now actively engaged in the transition of power at the IBT.

General President elect Sean O’Brien is a fourth generation Teamster out of Boston Local 25, a large and very militant general Local with members in nearly every Teamster represented industry both private and public.  He was elected the youngest President/Principal officer in Local 25’s history in 2006, is New England’s Joint Council 10 President and an elected IBT Eastern Region Vice President.

General Secretary-Treasurer elect Fred Zuckerman is the President of Local 89 in Louisville, Kentucky with the largest UPS membership in the International.  His Local also represents Teamsters in warehousing, manufacturing, food service, freight and carhaul.  Fred is also the President of Teamsters Joint Council 94.

Teamsters Local 162 would like to extend a special congratulations to our President, Mark Davison, who was elected to serve as an IBT Western Region Vice President. Mark has made Teamsters Local 162 history as being the first representative elected to an International position from our Local.  Mark is a 28-year Teamster who got his start loading trucks at UPS in Tualatin and served as a shop steward.  He is known for a strong and enthusiastic work ethic and a straightforward member empowerment leadership style.  Mark also serves in key Trustee positions leading health care funds for over 100,000 active and retired Teamsters and their dependents in Oregon and throughout the Western Region.  Mark will be a strong voice for all Teamster Locals and members in Joint Council 37 and throughout the Western Region on the International Executive Board.  Mark was also elected by Local Union delegates on January 21st to serve on the Joint Council 37 Executive Board.
