Local 162 President Mark Davison and Local 162 UPS Business Agents, along with Union activists, hit the gates at UPS this week to connect with members. Agents discussed contract violations occurring at UPS, listened to members' concerns, and passed out grievance forms and UPS contracts.
Local 162 officers also helped members signup on the 9.5 list which goes back into effect on June 15th. During the pandemic, UPS allowed the 9.5 list to roll over. However, they are going back to the National Master Agreement language which requires members to sign-up every 6 months. Signing up on the 9.5 list protects our members from excessive overtime and allows them to file a grievance when their 9.5 rights are violated. The Union has to turn in the sign-up lists to UPS by June 5th, so please contact your Shop Steward or Local 162 Agent to make sure you are on the list. The opt-in list will take effect June 15th.
If you miss the opt-in sign-up list, you can still add or delete your name on the 9.5 list at any time with one week’s written notice. Steward’s have the add/cut forms to provide that written notice.
